Markus, I’m game. I’m committed to fishing a Dana Angling Club Shark Tournament this weekend, but can do something next week. I have to tow down from Fullerton and if you want more than one day, I’d have to stay down there (fuel costs), but it’s doable. My boat is a diesel powered Blackman 20 center console, so it’s as good as they come as far as fuel economy. However the tow down and back sucks up 22 gallons, which is almost double what I would burn on the boat fishing inshore.
As for tackle I have a 14 wt Cam Sigler and Tibor Gulfstream for the makos. Also have a 9wt TFO TICR and Tibor Riptide. Also have an 11wt GUSA which could be used with the Gulf Stream. I am an experienced shark fisherman (captained wife to several IGFA records), but have never thrown the flies to them. Been looking for someone who would join me on this. Also would like to catch some calicos on the fly. You can interpret this as I’m very green with the flygear on the salt, but very experienced on conventional gear.
The wife and I have been planning to go flyfish Idaho sometime this August. We’ve been through the Sawtooths at the headwaters of the Salmon River and found it to be absolutely gorgeous. Whereabouts are you in Idaho?
