If anyone wants to chase threshers on fly, call me. I’ll wave my regular charter fee and all I ask is to cover expenses, namely fuel. You gotta want to do this legit, though, no 10 foot leaders and 50-pound tippet. I have all the gear unless you want to use your own, but if you want to try and not wimp out and just want to catch it on gear when it shows up, call me.

Also, in Late May I am going to make a run down to the 1010 Trench for a look-see. If anyone wants to go on that, just pitch in for fuel and liveys for chum and we’ll go. I will take 3 people, plus me (probably cost about $100 per person). It’ll take us about 3 hours to make the run down and 3 back so we’ll leave early, about 4am and be back by 6 or 7 that night. I expect we’ll encounter yellowtail on kelp and probably bonies, but hopefully we’ll find some tuna, too.

Went out with Jeff H yesterday to try. No dice. Not even a knockdown. Well maybe one, but it happend literally 30 seconds after setting the teasers, so I can’t believe it was one.

Threshers won’t be around much longer, but I’ll probably only do that one more time before seasons up on them. As for the big run, until I hear its worth it, I’m putting that on hold. I’ll do the same thing for marlin this summer once they show, too.

Give me a call if you are interested.

Scott,

Thanks again for the trip. Even though the T’s didn’t show I learned a lot watching you rig the baits and from listening to your stories. We’ll definitely try again next season. I believe its just a matter of putting in the time. I was very impressed with the boat. Lots of room, damn fine ride and speed in spades. Plus killer fuel economy! A real no-nonsense fishing machine.

I think your addition to the southern califonia fly fishing scene is a real asset to the sport out here. People will soon begin see what you can really accomplish on the fly. Additionally, you have a lot to offer to socal fishing in general (bait rigging, brining, etc.).

Next time you want to try something new again give me a call.
