San Diego Fishing Picking Up:
Sharks, Barracuda on Tap in San Diego

May 14 - 15, 2007: Captain Dave Trimble of Bowman Bluewater Guides and Outfitters reports a couple of good days of sharking along the 9 Mile Bank area and some nice-sized barracuda fishing the coastal waters around La Jolla. Stable weather conditions will contribute to improved fishing, so again, things should start getting better from here on out!

Spring has Sprung (Almost)!:
Big Bones, Barries & Yellowtail Show at Rockpile

Captain Scott Leon of Paradigm Shift Charters reports that big bonito (up to 20 lbs), barracuda (double digits) and yellowtail (mid-teens) showed briefly in big numbers off the Rockpile, which is located about 25 miles south of San Diego, in Mexican waters. Unfortunately, bad weather (wind, big swells) closed in and kept boats from reaching the fish the last few days. But weather forecasts call for flat / calm conditions starting next week, so look out! The 2007 season is just about ready to start!

Industry News:
Paradigm Shift Charters Opens for Business

Paradigm Shift Charters, owned and operated by Capt. Scott Leon, is now open for business. Paradigm Shift Charters is based in Dana Landing.

Many of you may better know Capt. Leon as the former Editor of Fly Fishing in Salt Waters magazine. Scott decided to move his guide business from south Florida to San Diego earlier this year. As a former Navy SEAL who trained at Naval Air Station Coronado, Scott has always had a soft spot for this area, and was anxious to return to SoCal to help promote salt water fly fishing.

He is running a Jones Brothers 26' center console with twin F150 Yamahas, the only one we know about on the West Coast. Jones Brothers boats are legendary on the East Coast, so we look forward to getting a ride and checking it out for our sister site "Ocean Skiff Journal".
