Have you ever left your fishing license at home and discovered it when you’re already at the dock? Or had it on a hat that blew off? The Fish and Game regulation that requires all anglers to “display” their fishing license when fishing is just a nuisance. Wardens admit that this regulation does not help in enforcement. Too many people either forge or “borrow” a license so the wardens have to personally check each one.

The Sportfishing Conservancy is doing something about this regulation. We’ve asked the Fish and Game Commission to change it when they approve new sportfishing regulations this summer (this is done every three years). We need fishermen to sign on to www.sportcon.org and enter their information so that we can show widespread angler support. It just takes a minute but if you’re like me, it will save time looking for which tackle box (or jacket) I left my license.
